Med-Check
The Role of the Schlumberger Country Doctors or Local Doctor in the Med-Check Process
The Schlumberger Country Doctor or Local Doctor acts as the manager and administrator for Med-Check within his country. He is the interface between the employees, Schlumberger management and the ISOS Med-Track team in Paris.
The Schlumberger Country Doctor/ Local Doctor:
- receives Med-Check examination reports from HCR and HCC employees for his country
- reviews the Med-Check examinations and determines the fitness to work of the employees
- is responsible for the uploading or data capture of the Med-Check examination results in the eMed-Track website. The Local Doctor either personally uploads Med-Check data into the eMed-Track website or manages personnel working under his direct responsibility (medic, nurse, secretary) who have been duly trained in the rules of medical confidentiality and in the use of the eMed-Track website.
- uploads the date of the Med-Check examination into Quest or provides this data to personnel working under his direct responsibility for uploading. The uploading of Med-Check dates in Quest can also be performed by the local HSE manager.
- generates activity reports for his/her country
Contrary to the Med-Track process, for Med-Check there are only two rounds of medical review :
A. First Round of Review - Medical Provider or Examining Doctor Review
The medical provider or the examining doctor is the first person to review and define employee’s fitness to work.
The local doctor, if equipped with a computer and internet access can perform the data capture and upload the Med-Check results directly into the eMed-Track website.
B. Second and Last Round of Review, or the Client Review
The Schlumberger Country Doctor or Local Doctor acts as the Client Reviewer. He/she reviews the Med-Check examination and defines the employee’s final fitness to work using the “Guidelines of Medical Fitness to Work in the Oil Industry”.
